Dr. Chiamaka Nnah, DNP-PMHNP-BC
BHC 40 Under 40 | Class of 2026 | From the Ground Up
CEO/Owner | Serenity Wellness Mental Health Center | Baltimore, MD
Dr. Chiamaka Nnah is a psychiatric nurse practitioner, entrepreneur, and healthcare builder leading multiple initiatives focused on expanding access to mental health care.
As Owner, CEO, and Medical Director of Serenity Wellness Mental Health Center, she oversees a multi-location practice delivering comprehensive psychiatric services across Maryland and Virginia. Her work extends beyond clinical care into systems-building, including healthcare transportation through Apex Medical Services and Transport and global mental health initiatives through her nonprofit, Global Mental Health Priorities.
The Journey
Her path into healthcare was shaped by example.
"Watching her dedicate her life to nursing... showed me the power of a woman who leads with both strength and compassion."
Her mother’s career in nursing created a model of care rooted in both discipline and empathy. That example became the foundation for Dr. Nnah’s own approach to healthcare, one that blends clinical expertise with purpose-driven leadership.
Pursuing psychiatric mental health was not just a career decision. It was an extension of a legacy she had already witnessed and internalized.
What This Recognition Means
For Dr. Nnah, this recognition reflects the full weight of the work behind it.
It represents years of sacrifice, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to building something larger than a single practice. She views it as confirmation that her efforts to create accessible and culturally competent mental health care are reaching beyond what can always be seen.
At the same time, it fuels her drive to continue expanding what is possible.
What’s Next
She describes this as the most intentional season of her entrepreneurial journey.
Her focus includes expanding access to Exomind TMS therapy, integrating genetic testing into psychiatric care, launching healthcare transportation services, and advancing global mental health initiatives.
Each of these efforts is connected by a single goal. Removing barriers to care while building systems that are sustainable and scalable.
"People don't win because they are the smartest... They win because of resilience."
Dr. Nnah is not only building services. She is building infrastructure that redefines access, innovation, and equity in mental health care.
