Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows (2027–2028)

The RWJF Health Policy Fellows program provides the nation's most comprehensive midcareer learning experience at the intersection of health, science, and policy in Washington, D.C. Fellows are placed in assignments in the federal government for 12–24 months, beginning September 1, 2027. Up to eight fellows are selected each cycle.

Who's eligible

• An advanced degree (master's or doctoral)
• Deep subject-matter experience in a health-related discipline and at least 10 years of full-time work experience — medicine, nursing, public health, law, dentistry, economics and other social sciences, among others
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident at the time of application
• Not primarily employed in government relations or advocacy

Award

• Stipend of $175,000 per fellow over 12–24 months
• Relocation and approved housing expenses reimbursed up to $20,000

Key dates (2026)

• Optional applicant webinars: September 22, October 7, October 27 (registration required on the RWJF page)
• October 30, 3 p.m. ET — three reference letters due
• November 3, 3 p.m. ET — preliminary applications due
• Mid-January 2027 finalists notified; late February 2027 selection; September 1, 2027 fellowship begins
